Chiropractor, Founder, & Executive DIrector
Donald Acton D.C., F.I.C.A.
Dr. Acton witnessed the miracles of Chiropractic at a very early age after seeing his Mother and Grandmother recover from serious illnesses. He had his spine checked for nerve stress at age 7 and has been a student of health and wellness ever since. He attended undergraduate school on academic and athletic scholarships. After graduating from Ball State University, he then received his doctorate degree from Logan College of Chiropractic in St. Louis, Missouri.
After moving to Asheville in 1979 he established Acton Family Chiropractic. At one time he ran 3 successful clinics in the Asheville area. Dr. Acton has performed over 500,000 adjustments, been the chiropractor for Olympic medalists, coached over 120 top chiropractors in the USA, Canada, Europe and Australia, and been asked to teach health and wellness around the globe. He also serves on the board of the Carolina Chiropractors Association. He is the Father of 5 children and is happily married to his wife Joanie.

Carlie Willet
Carlie is a WNC native, born and raised in Black Mountain. She graduated from UNCA with a BA in English but wasn't sure what career to pursue with her English degree, so a few years later she decided to go to AB Tech and graduated with an AA in marketing. Still unsure of what she wanted to do, she took on several jobs…from working at a campground, to front desk at a local spin studio, to a nanny.
Throughout all of the uncertainty, she always knew she had a passion for helping others. This passion for helping others led her to find Acton Chiropractic. While new to chiropractic care, she has already seen the positive benefits of chiropractic care and is excited to learn more from Dr. Acton. In her free time, she enjoys spending time outside hiking and riding her at home spin bike with her favorite SoulCycle instructors. She enjoys live music and has been to hundreds of concerts over the years.
Front Desk Coordinator
Joanie Acton
Joanie was born in Carmel CA but grew up in High Point before moving to Waynesville in high school. After attending Lees-McRae and UNC she became a paralegal. She moved to Asheville in 1991, met Dr. Acton and they got married in 1993. Five years after getting married, Joanie decided to quit law. Her focus became her family after having her first baby (Gunnar), along with her three bonus children. Five years later McKenzie came along.
Joanie spent the next 20 years as a home-school Mom. This allowed for their family to travel extensively and allowed time for her cycling, skiing and camping hobbies!
Once their children became older, she wanted to be more involved with the practice. She is an amazing front desk coordinator, who brightens up the office everyday in every-way!
Joanie has an amazing knowledge of health and wellness. Her grandfather was a surgeon in High Point and her father owns a health food store in Waynesville. She and the children regularly receive adjustments.

Meet our adorable office puppies! Our brown doggy, Finn, will melt your heart with his cuteness. Our black doggy, Aleks, will desire all the attention and belly rubs. These brothers are in our office to provide the much needed free puppy therapy that all humans enjoy.
